Ava DuVernay and Netflix prevailed in federal court against a defamation lawsuit brought against them by John E. Reid & Associates.

The Chicago company that created a controversial interrogation technique claims the Emmy-winning limited series made statements in the fourth episode that condemned and defamed the infamous Reid Technique.

On Monday, a federal judge tossed Reid’s case like a salad!

U.S. District Court Judge Manish Shah wrote:

Because the First Amendment protects non-factual assertions (and because neither defendants Ava DuVernay nor Array Alliance Inc. has sufficient minimum contacts with the State of Illinois to justify haling them into court here), Reid’s complaint is dismissed.

Many media outlets, who did not do their homework, have confused this case with the defamation lawsuit brought against Ava DuVernay and Netflix by the former Central Park Five prosecutor Linda Fairstein.

Linda is also claiming she was defamed in the series.

Netflix plans to give her all of the smoke in court as well.
