An Ashanti concert at Stony Brook University was canceled after only 24 tickets were sold.

The Grammy Award-winning singer was slated to replace Teyana Taylor at the “Back To Brook” concert after Teyana pulled out of the show two weeks before, which left the university scrambling and little time to market and promote Ashanti as their new act.

The university released the following statement about the cancellation:

As an organization, we do our best to host programs for students while providing diversity and inclusion. However, we have struggled to execute certain aspects.

With only a week before the concert, only 24 tickets were sold to students.

Please see the official statement from the university below.

To be fair, I’m sure many of the students either didn’t know Ashanti was coming or they just cashed out on the entire concert when Teyana pulled out.

Meanwhile…back at the studio, Ashanti is all smiles as she works on her new album.

Are you looking forward to her new music?
