Aretha Franklin Says Her Forthcoming Biopic Will Be Straight Outta Detroit
Aretha Franklin recently celebrated her 74th birthday at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in New York City and during her shindig, she made a huge announcement regarding her forthcoming biopic.
According to the Queen of Soul, her biopic, which has experienced multiple delays due to negotiations, has officially been greenlit and it’s going to be Straight Outta Detroit.
Ree Ree told The Huffington Post:
I’m in the last of the negotiations, because we have agreed on the key things and the most important things. It’s some of the people that were involved in Straight Outta Compton, and this is going to be Straight Outta Detroit.
Aretha remained tight-lipped on who will portray her in her biopic. You may recall she wanted Halle Berry. Then, Audra McDonald and Jennifer Hudson were thrown into the convo.
Here’s what she did say:
It’s been a long, long haul, but I think we’re right at it now. I spoke to the young lady about a week ago — I won’t say which one of the two it was — but I spoke to her, and she’s ready. We’re going to go forward with it.
Who do YOU think should play Aretha Franklin in her biopic?
