It’s with a heavy heart that I report Anthony Bourdain has passed away.

The celebrity chef, author and longtime TV personality was in France working on an upcoming episode of his award-winning CNN series “Parts Unknown,” when he was found unresponsive in his hotel room.

CNN reports Anthony Bourdain died of an apparent suicide. He was 61.

The network released the following statement:

It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain.

His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time.

The news of his death has left many stunned and devastated as everyone will agree – he was just a great human being. I extend my heart and prayers to Anthony’s family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.
