New details in the Alexis Crawford case are not only heartbreaking, but they are absolutely disturbing and disgusting.
Below I have compiled all of the information we know about the case thus far.
Alexis Crawford was a beautiful 21-year-old student at Clark Atlanta University, where she was studying criminal justice.
She came from a close-knit family, where she was one of 10 children and her family recalled her as bright, affectionate, funny and fun.
On October 27, Alexis went to Grady Hospital and filed a police report claiming her roommate’s boyfriend, Barron Brantley, had sexually assaulted her.
(Via 11 Alive) The report, filed on Oct. 27 at around 6 a.m., indicates all three were drinking together at their apartment on McDaniel St SW where Brantley was allegedly coming on to Alexis.
In the report, the police officer wrote, “the victim stated that the suspect rubbed his hand on her shoulder and kissed her on the neck. The victim stated that she asked the suspect what was he doing and he stated he thought she was Ms. Jones.”
Halloween was the last time Alexis Crawford’s family heard from her.
Alexandria Crawford, Alexis’ sister, told police they last texted about 8:45 p.m. Oct. 30.
Alexis was also spotted on surveillance video at D&M Package on Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard. She was with her roommate, Jordyn Jones.
Although the ladies had not been speaking since Alexis filed the sexual assault report, she did ask Jordyn to take her to the store and Jordyn obliged.
On November 1, Alexis Crawford’s family reported her missing and the search for her began.
Atlanta police launched an investigation and her roommate, Jones, said on October 31, she got up and went to class, but Alexis wasn’t in their apartment.
Alexis Crawford’s body was found on Friday, November 8, in a wooded area of a park in Decatur, Georgia, off of Columbia Drive.
Fulton County Superior Court documents have revealed the gruesome details of Alexis Crawford’s death.
According to a Homicide Unit summary, Alexis and her roommate, Jordyn Jones, got into a physical altercation. During the fight, Barron Brantley jumped in and began to strangle Alexis.
The warrant for Jones alleges she “did smother the victim, Alexis Crawford, with a black trash bag until Crawford stopped breathing and was deceased.”
Jones and Brantley placed Alexis’ body in a plastic bin and transported her to Exchange Park in Decatur, where they dumped her in a wooded area.
Barron Brantley confessed to his role in Alexis’ death.
Alexis’ roomate, Jordyn Jones, and Jones’ boyfriend, Barron Brantley, have been arrested and charged with malice murder.
Both Jones and Brantley are being held without bond at the Fulton County Jail.
Jones is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 25 and Brantley on Nov. 22.
Alexis Crawford’s funeral service is set for November 16 at noon at Hill Chapel Baptist Church in Athens, Georgia.
The family asks that any cards or financial contributions be made directly to Gregory B. Levett and Sons Funeral home, which is handling the arrangements.
The tragic murder of Alexis Crawford has sparked a conversation on social media about why many women don’t contact police when they are sexually assaulted.
This case is still developing.
Please keep Alexis Crawford’s family uplifted in prayer during this extremely difficult time.
