Aldon Smith takes one step forward and two steps back.

The NFL baller, who just signed a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks to revive his career, now has a warrant out for his arrest after he allegedly choked someone out in Louisiana over the weekend.

St. Bernard Parish District Attorney Perry Nicosia says the NFL pass rusher is facing a second-degree battery charge after a dispute in a Chalmette coffee shop got physical.

St. Bernard sheriff deputies responded to a call for medical assistance around 7:30 p.m. Saturday night, the sheriff’s office confirmed in a statement. A male victim said he was “assaulted by an acquaintance of his earlier while outside a business.” Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau identified Smith as a suspect in their investigation and issued an arrest warrant, sheriff James Pohlmann said.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told USA Today:

We will look into the matter to understand the facts but have no further comment at this time.

Aldon Smith has had quite an unsavory history off of the field that includes arrests on suspicion of domestic violence, a hit-and-run, and a DUI.

His new deal with the Seahawks was a fresh start.
