Aaliyah’s mother took to social media on the 20th anniversary of her daughter’s untimely passing to share someone was at the singer’s gravesite promoting a book.

According to a letter posted on Aaliyah’s official Instagram page, Diane Haughton, said she is now forced to “make a drastic change” at her daughter’s final resting place.

Diane said this “person interrupted all my thoughts and ideas to make August 25, 2021 a day of remembrance and love for my daughter.”

Dear Special Ones,

First and foremost I want to thank my dear “Special Ones” (The Fans) that have been with us for years and supported every endeavor that came our way without hesitation. However, due to the behavior of an individual that has been to Aaliyah’s resting place in order to promote a book, I have been forced to make a drastic change at Ferncliff Cemetery and Mausoleum.

This person interrupted all my thoughts and ideas to make August 25th, 2021 a day of Remembrance and Love for my daughter. Please accept my sincere apologies for this and know I love you and always will.

Aaliyah’s life will still shine no matter what.

With Aaliyah

And Her Comrades In Our Hearts,

D. Haughton

All eyes immediately shifted towards journalist Kathy Iandoli, who has been promoting her new book, “Baby Girl: Better Known as Aaliyah.”

You may recall, a few weeks ago, I told you Kathy became a hot topic because her book contains a claim that Aaliyah was given a sleeping pill and placed on the plane before it crashed.

An angry fan took to Twitter and threatened violence against Kathy for not only disrespecting Aaliyah’s legacy, but for possibly ruining future opportunities for fans to visit her gravesite.

Kathy took to Twitter to clear her name of any wrongdoing.

She tweeted:

I did not promote my book outside of Aaliyah’s gravesite. That is offensive to even suggest. I have been told that fans have had my book there with them. Please no longer bring my book to Ferncliff. Apologies that fans can not visit Aaliyah’s resting place.

Hopefully, the focus can remain on celebrating the life and legacy of Aaliyah.

May she rest in paradise.
