72-Year-Old Woman Gives Birth

A 72-year-old woman in India has given birth to the first child after undergoing two years of in vitro fertilization treatments.

After 46 years of marriage Daljinder Kaur and her husband Mohinder Singh Gill had almost given up hope of becoming parents. Then, their miracle finally happened.

“God heard our prayers. My life feels complete now,” Kaur told AFP. “I am looking after the baby all by myself, I feel so full of energy. My husband is also very caring and helps me as much as he can.”

The parents welcomed baby boy Arman Singh on April 19 — about 20 years after Kaur’s menopause.

The successful conception came in July after two failed IVF cycles, the Hidustan Times reported.

“It was embarrassing to not be able to produce a child, no doubt, but we have been busy with litigation all our life and hardly had time to think it over,” the new father and farmer said.

“After we got a little free a few years ago, we thought of trying for a baby,” he added.

The couple used their own egg and sperm to conceive their child.

“People say what will happen to the child once we die,” Singh said. “But I have full faith in God. God is omnipotent and omnipresent, he will take care of everything.”
