Devastating news coming out of upstate New York…
20 people were killed on over the weekend when a limousine carrying a birthday party lost control on dangerous upstate highway junction and crashed into a parked SUV and rolled into a shallow ravine.
Details surrounding the horrific crash are continuing to pour in.
Below, I’ve listed a few things we know about the tragedy below.
The Accident occurred when the limo driver lost control of the 2001 Ford vehicle. The limo blew through a stop sign at an intersection before ramming into a parked 2015 Toyota Highlander and flipping over into a ravine.
The Limo Driver has been identified as 53-year-old Scott lisinicchia. It is now being reported that he did not have a proper driver’s license when he was operating the limo. He was also killed in the deadly crash.
The Limousine that was carrying the 17 partygoers failed inspection last month and should not have been on the road according to Governor Cuomo.
20 people were killed in the accident that took place on Saturday afternoon on State Route 30 in Schoharie, New York. The limo driver, 17 passengers, and two pedestrians standing in the parking lot near the parked SUV were killed.
The Passengers in the vehicle had come together to celebrate Amy Steenburg‘s 30th birthday. She had just tied the knot with Alex Steenburg in June and had plenty to celebrate.
Amy, her husband Alex, her three sisters, Abby Jackson, Allison King and Mary Dyson were killed in the crash.
Amy’s brothers-in-law, Adam Jackson, Rich Steenburg, and Rob Dyson also perished in the crash.
Newlyweds Shane McGowan and Erin Vertucci McGowan were also killed in the crash. Erin’s cousin Patrick Cushing and his girlfriend, Amanda Halse, also died.
Saturday’s devastating accident is the deadliest transportation accident in the United States in nearly a decade.
The investigation surrounding the accident continues as authorities try to answer a number of questions. Was the driver speeding? Did the brakes malfunction? Were the passengers wearing seatbelts?
Please join me in sending up prayers for all of the lives impacted by this unfathomable tragedy.
