Five Teens Accused Of Gang Rape In Brooklyn Park Released By NYPD

Five teens accused of raping an 18-year-old girl at a Brooklyn playground last week were ordered released from jail on Thursday while police and prosecutors continue to investigate and try to make sense out of the complicated case.

Last Thursday, around 9pm the teens reportedly approached an 18-year-old woman and her 39-year-old father who were drinking beer together, brandished a weapon, ordered the father to leave, then gang raped the woman.

Travis Beckford, 17; Onandi Brown, 17; Ethan Phillip, 15; Shaquelle Cooper, 15, and Denzel Murray, 14, were arrested and charged as adults with first-degree rape.

But, as the investigation continued, two of the teens told police when they encountered the intoxicated dad and his daughter, they were having sex. It was at that point that one of the teens allegedly asked the father, “Can we have some of that?” They claim the father staggered off, the woman consented, and they had sex with her.

Things got really tricky when one of the teens produced video taken on his mobile device and the victim nor her father could identify any of the teens in a lineup.
