C.R.E.A.M: U-God Slaps RZA & The Wu-Tang Clan With $2.5M Lawsuit
U-God of the Wu-Tang Clan has filed a $2 million lawsuit against RZA and the group claiming he has not received money owed to him.
Cash rules everything around me…U-God too!
U-God, born Lamont Jody Hawkins, has slapped RZA and the Wu-Tang Clan with a $2.5 million lawsuit claiming he’s been getting screwed out of coins he’s owed for his years of contributions to the legendary Hip Hop group.
In the docs filed in NYC, U-God says he’s contributed to about 170 tracks for the group since its inception in 1993 … but says he hasn’t been getting his share of royalties off 12 Wu-Tang albums, for at least the last 6 years.
U also says his Wu contract requires him to get 2 annual payments for his share of merchandising dough, but says he’s been cut off from that too. In the docs, obtained by TMZ, it’s clear he has particular beef with RZA and his brother, Mitchell Diggs — claiming they’re abusing their power as Wu founders, and pulling strings to leave him out in the cold.
U-God also claims he did not receive a dime from the massive $2 million sale of their secret double album, Once Upon a Time in Shaolin.
Can it be that it was all so simple then?
