FOR THE RECORD: District Attorney Says There Is NO R. Kelly Investigation
District Attorney Paul Howard says there is no investigation against R&B singer R. Kelly. Get the scoop.
No R. Kelly Investigation In The Works
On Friday (August 11), Fulton County Chairman John Eaves held a press conference calling for a criminal investigation into the cult allegations against R. Kelly citing the discovery of new “concerning” evidence.
Eaves released the following statement:
A detailed local investigation by the John Creek Police Department has provided key information that we believe is enough evidence that gives the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office all it needs to advance a criminal investigation of the well-known allegations.
Today, I am asking District Attorney Paul Howard and his investigative officers and prosecutors to fully review the report of the Johns Creek Police and follow every lead—no matter where it leads, or who it implicates, and bring those persons to swift justice.
After gassing everyone up and alluding to an imminent criminal investigation, Lieutenant Chris Byers of the Johns Creek Police Department told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “There is no new evidence in the closed investigation.”
D.A. Howard confirmed he did receive a file from Johns Creek PD and that he will review it, but he added, “We are not currently investigating Mr. Kelly.”
“Today there is no investigation,” Howard said. “What we received is some information. Information that (police) might send on any citizen. We will look at it and make an evaluation. The evaluation might be that they need to do some more work.”
