Fences

Fences is already off to a great start!

The film adaptation of the August Wilson play, starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis, scooped $128K over the weekend.

Paramount gave the Golden Globe-nominated film a limited release in 4 theaters; Arclight Hollywood, the Landmark, Regal Union Station 14, and AMC Loews Lincoln Square in Los Angeles and New York City.

“This is an event for upscale moviegoers,” said Megan Colligan, President of Worldwide Marketing & Distribution at Paramount. “You may miss the upscale moviegoers if you don’t do that, and in this era of social media, it’s good to have the wind at your back and get it going that way. I think people in New York and L.A. are going to be blown away.”

On Christmas Day, Fences will roll out to 2,000 theaters.
