Chance The Rapper Donates $1 Million To Chicago Public Schools
Chance The Rapper is putting his money where his heart is…in Chicago Public Schools.
Days after his frustrating meeting with Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner about school funding, the 3x Grammy Award-winning rapper announced his $1 million donation to the Chicago Public School Foundation.
Chance, born Chancelor Bennett, held a press conference on Monday (March 6) at the Wescott Elementary School on the southside of Chicago.
He thanked his fans for making the donation possible through ticket sales from his upcoming tour as well as an “unprecedented” coordination between Ticketmaster, LiveNation, and AEG, and independent promoters and venues around the country.
Chance The Rapper challenged other businesses and corporations to take action and invest in the children of Chicago.
He noted, as the icing on top, for every $100,000 raised for CPS, Social Works will donate $10,000 to a specific Chicago high school!
