RIP: Emmy-Winning ‘House Of Cards’ Actor Reg E. Cathey Passes Away At 59
It’s with a heavy heart that I report Emmy-winning “House of Cards” actor Reg E. Cathey has passed away at his home in New York after battling lung cancer. He was 59.
Reg was an incredible actor, whose career in Hollywood spanned over 30 years.
I was introduced to his artistry when he played the role of “Scalio” on HBO’s “The Corner.” From there, I became a fan, who loved his work on “Oz,” “The Wire,” “Banshee” and his award-winning performance in “House of Cards.” Not to mention all of the films and TV shows he’s appeared on.
David Simon, who worked with Reg on several of his shows, paid tribute to him with this post on Twitter:
Reg Cathey, 1958-2018. Not only a fine, masterful actor — but simply one of the most delightful human beings with whom I ever shared some long days on set. On wit alone, he could double any man over and leave him thinking. Reg, your memory is a great blessing. pic.twitter.com/OHEUbAhTg0

My sincerest condolences to the Cathey family and all who loved Reg on and off of the screen.
